And she was very cute on the car ride up to Michigan!
I have been knitting and crocheting since my Mom taught me as a child, I started quilting sometime in college, and my most recent obsession is spinning.

All Healed!
My mom was requesting a picture of Callay's surgery site all healed. It's looking really good, and I think that the hair will probably grow back over it and cover most of the scarring. We'll see!

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 8
So no pictures today, Callay's doing really well. I've been able to express about a teaspoon or so of fluid from her surgery site each time I did it the past two days, and as of this morning, there's no fluid buildup. There is some swelling, but it's not liquid, so nothing's moving. It's probably a hematoma, which is good because that means healing. She gets her stitches out on Wednesday, so I'll post a picture of the final product.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 7
So she's started licking at it, AND it's started swelling. I'm glad we have a 1-week checkup today. I'm supposed to get the news today that I can leave her to her own, going in and out of her doggie door, but that may not be an option yet. I'll update when I get back from the Vet's office. Here's a picture of the swelling. I noticed it first last night, and if one area is pressed on, another swells. Gross. maybe the doc will put in a drain or something, we'll see.

UPDATE: Well, Dr. French said that it's actually looking really good, much better than she had hoped, and that I can apply warm compresses to it to encourage it to weep, and apply a little pressure to encourage it along. All good (if gross) things. Oh, and Doc said no running outside yet for another three days, so that means working at home the rest of the week. I love my job. My boss is totally cool with that, and I'm even more productive actually, at home.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 6
So, nothing major, but Stitch #5 has come untied. I just got off the phone with the vet's office and they said that so long as it's only one stitch, and the skin is holding together, it's fine. I still made an appointment for her for tomorrow, so I can get the green light to leave her with the shirt tied up so she can't nibble at the stitches and leave her free again to rome the backyard. She really doesn't like the whole walk on a leash thing, unless it's a full out in the neighborhood smelling all the other doggy smell "walkie" I'm trying to work at home to be able to keep an eye on her, and I can't take that much time to walk her every time. Hopefully tomorrow we'll get the green light to leave her to her own running around, and the untied stitch isn't a problem. I'll update when I know.
Here's the pic, you can see the stitch that's untied pretty clearly.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 5
Wow, in the excitement of the spinning wheels I forgot to give an update on Callay. She's doing really well. She has just started trying to nibble at her stitches, but the T-shirt we're keeping over it is preventing her from doing any damage. That and the "Hey, hey hey, Stop that!" from us.
Here's her updated picture. Still no real swelling, although the oozing has slowed.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 4
Still looking good. It's weeping, which is good, and she's occasionally sleeping on that side, so it must not hurt. Here's the pic

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 3
Not much change in the surgery site. A little weepy, but that's better than swelling. Callay's been a good girl about leaving it alone, but we'll see how she does as it really begins to heal.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 2
She slept through the night, waking only once with a little yelp. I think she was again trying to lay on the wrong side. A little bit of swelling, but in all it looks good. She ate most heartily, gobbled down her Rimadyl and is now sleeping, in much the same position as she was in the previous post. The redness from the adhesive is a little worse, but that should hopefully clear up in another day or so.

Midafternoon update: Callay is currently sleeping on her left side (the one with the stitches) and is soundly asleep, chasing things and barking at them. Very cute.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update
So Callay woke up just fine and Dr. French said she woke in no pain and didn't even act as though she had had surgery. Here she is relaxing on her bed in the office, she's still a little tired and walking silly from the anethesia, but that should wear off soon. She's wearing one of Jeff's old T-shirts to prevent her from licking at the sutures, which will come out in two weeks.

Not for the squeamish, but also not too bad is a shot of the surgery site. Dr. French did a great job and it looks like it will be a nice even looking scar. I posted it small on purpose, but if you want a better look you can click on it. The redness that's a bit away from the incision site is because she put a bandage on it while she was recovering, and then took it off. I think that hurt her more than the surgery did! She also has nice minty breath and shiny clean teeth!

Callay's Lipoma
So just in case anyone was wondering why we're getting her lipoma removed, here's a couple of pictures of it. It's finally large enough that she preferentially lays on the other side. I would too if I had half a tennis ball under my ribs. It doesn't hurt when touched, but it's only a matter of time. So her pre-op appointment is in about 45 minutes, and we'll see what the doctor says. Hopefully we'll get a paws up!

Incidentally, it has been this size for a bit, but it has grown noticeably in the last couple of months. See this post.
