Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update 2

She slept through the night, waking only once with a little yelp. I think she was again trying to lay on the wrong side. A little bit of swelling, but in all it looks good. She ate most heartily, gobbled down her Rimadyl and is now sleeping, in much the same position as she was in the previous post. The redness from the adhesive is a little worse, but that should hopefully clear up in another day or so.



Midafternoon update: Callay is currently sleeping on her left side (the one with the stitches) and is soundly asleep, chasing things and barking at them. Very cute.

Callay's Lipoma, Post-op Update

So Callay woke up just fine and Dr. French said she woke in no pain and didn't even act as though she had had surgery. Here she is relaxing on her bed in the office, she's still a little tired and walking silly from the anethesia, but that should wear off soon. She's wearing one of Jeff's old T-shirts to prevent her from licking at the sutures, which will come out in two weeks.


Not for the squeamish, but also not too bad is a shot of the surgery site. Dr. French did a great job and it looks like it will be a nice even looking scar. I posted it small on purpose, but if you want a better look you can click on it. The redness that's a bit away from the incision site is because she put a bandage on it while she was recovering, and then took it off. I think that hurt her more than the surgery did! She also has nice minty breath and shiny clean teeth!

WIP Wednesday!

So I've been steadily Anouking along and making really good progress on Ally's dress. I hope her Mommy likes it as much as I do! The yarn is very nice to work with, and since it's machine washable, it should be pretty easy to care for.

Callay's Lipoma

So just in case anyone was wondering why we're getting her lipoma removed, here's a couple of pictures of it. It's finally large enough that she preferentially lays on the other side. I would too if I had half a tennis ball under my ribs. It doesn't hurt when touched, but it's only a matter of time. So her pre-op appointment is in about 45 minutes, and we'll see what the doctor says. Hopefully we'll get a paws up!

Farmer's Market

So the Farmer's Market is going great! The baking endeavor has both Ana and myself well in the black already, and my craft stuff has been selling well. In addition to the corn bags, Here are a couple of the things I've been offering.

The first is a coffee cup cozy. So far this has sold about half a dozen, to eco-minded individuals who want to carry their own cozy rather than add a piece of cardbord from a hand insulator to the landfill. They're really pretty and made from either cotton yarn or from wool. I think I like the cotton ones the best, but the wool ones really protect the hand from the heat.



Second is cool neck scarves. I had one of these which I purchased from an art fair a long time ago. It works very well for keeping the neck cool, and is filled with polymer beads which were designed for being able to grow plants in the desert. According to the website where they were purchased, 6oz holds 1 gallon of water! I do have more colors available, but they sold and I have to make more. Yay!


They should both be up on Ana's website soon (once she gets the pictures from my blog!) and will be available to sell online, or in person when I see people or at the farmer's market.

I really enjoy doing the farmer's market. Especially the baking, and not just because baking is fun. I HAVE to keep my kitchen clean during the week, otherwise I would be frantically cleaning it in the approximately 5 minutes I usually have between returning home from sparring and Eric and Ana coming over for our Friday night baking. That would not be good. So I (and Jeff) keep it clean all week. Now that "Must Keep Clean" attitude has rubbed off on other aspects of our house, which is doubly awesome.

Okay, rambling about cleaning done! I'm off to take Callay for a pre-op appointment. She has a large lipoma on her side that Wednesday she'll be getting removed, while she's under anasthesia anyway for a dental cleaning. So she'll have clean teeth, fresh breath and a scar. Poor baby. I'm taking a couple of days to work at home so she can be more comfortable and I can make sure she's not hurting herself.

WIP Wednesday!

So here is the progress so far on my rendition of Knitty's Anouk I wanted it to seem more like flowers and sky, rather than the orange color they chose. I'm using a very soft acrylic that's machine washable for ease of use. This is the front/back, and so far I'm about row 30 of 70 or 80, so making good progress. Gotta love making stuff for babies! This is going to a particularly adorable niece, shown below!

FO Friday!

So I missed WIP Wednesday because I was finishing these up. I really like how the Magic Stripes stripes blended in using Knitty's Crusoe pattern. They're not the BEST fitting socks ever, but I do still need to block them. I was impatient and decided the best way to block them was on my feet. I think I'll wash them and block them this weekend.





In baking news, I found a recipe that I just had to try for the Farmer's Market. I'm going to call it "White Tea Jasmine Cookies" They're essentially what they sound like. A basic sugar cookie recipe with white tea jasmine mixed in. I decided to make the dough early and refrigerate it so that the flavors would have a chance to mingle before baking. Of course, I DID have to taste the raw dough. mmmmmmm tea-ey goodness. Seriously, it's very lightly sweet and has a fresh bright green flavor, in addition to the sweetness of the jasmine. I think they'll sell well.

WIP Wednesday

So no pictures yet, but work continues to progress on my socks, and I have made a few new items for the farmer's market. That is proving to be a very fun, if not lucrative business. I've been charting my costs and profits, and have made everything back. Then I celebrated by buying more stuff, and am again about $8 in the hole.

I have to say, for all the years I worked for the Ren Faire selling someone else's stuff, it is particularly exhiliarating receiveing money for something I made myself. I'll post pictures of the cute things soon.

I also have been having a great time at the Farmer's Market. Lots of my stuff has sold, and the baking we're doing will likely break even for us this next week! Go us!

Another FO

These are the golf club covers I made for my Mom for Christmas this year. Very fun pattern I adapted from the Lion Brand Website for golf club covers. They're made with Caron Soft Brights.

Sick Trees

So I had a wonderful landscaper do my front lawn, but unfortunately a couple of trees are now sick. I'm posting pictures of them here so I can easily send them to him.

WIP Wednesday!

So to help me keep this a little more of a craft blog, I am going to attempt to post a WIP Wednesday each week. Hey, a couple of weeks ago I did post on that vest i'm making, right?

So this week's edition of WIP wednesday involves a pair of socks I had cast on and done 6 rows, in preparation for the Vegas Trip we just got back from with my in-laws. It was a fantastic time, I'll post a link to our pictures later.

I really like the Crusoe pattern with the Magic Stripes Lion Brand yarn. It isn't as noticeable as I thought it would be, but it adds a nice texture to the stripes.



Oh, and have I mentioned how much I LOVE my new camera?

Clean Kitchen!

So, simply because I am proud of my cleaning achievements, and for proof to my family that I can keep something clean, here is a picture of my kitchen. It recently underwent inspection so that my friend Ana and I can make healthy cookies and such and sell them at the local Farmer's Market, and the woman said it passed with flying colors, although for legal reasons on the report she had to indicate it had "No significant objectionable conditions noted on this date"

Ohhh, here's the Knitting!

So this is a picture of the vest I'm currently working on. It's enjoyable, but taking a LOOOONG time. It is almost making me wish I had a knitting machine! But I'm sure I'll love it when it's felted down. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to wear it until fall with the way weather is going, but it'll still be a worthwile piece. Oh, and those differently colored yarns? Those are my way of counting 20 rows at a time. And I need to get to 106 rows. I'm almost there, then I get to divide for the sleeves. I love this yarn, and can't wait to see what type of fabric it ends up looking like!

Yeah, yeah, this is supposed to be a crafting blog. Well, I just got a cool new digital camera and I'm having fun taking pictures.
